School Council
School Council members are crucial partners in education who make a difference in our school community. These members are valued for their role and contributions in increasing parent involvement and student excellence.
Markstay’s school council is focused on student success. They advise the principal about important issues such as:
- promoting effective communication between the school and parents
- supporting our schools short and long term goals
- contributing ideas around school code of conduct/behaviour
- encouraging parent and community involvement in our school
- promoting positive attitudes towards public education
- supporting initiatives that affect student achievement or board accountability to parents
The membership of our council includes:
- parents—who form the majority of council members
- teaching and support staff representatives
- community members
